LCSW/LPC- Behavioral Health Specialist: Part-Time

General Summary of Job Duties and Responsibilities: The Behavioral Health Specialist (BHS) works as a member of an integrated primary care team to provide behavioral health consultation, short-term interventions and outpatient counseling remotely. This position will perform services via telehealth and/or in-person counseling sessions.  The position is located in our Cape Girardeau area and is a part-time, PRN opportunity. Most work can be completed remotely, but some in-office work required (approximately once per quarter). Functions include engagement and rapport building, screening and assessment, treatment planning, evidence-based therapeutic interventions, and interdisciplinary coordination.

Essential Job Functions:

Patient Services

• Provide behavioral health treatment to adult patients within primary care setting for a variety of chronic medical and/or mental health/substance abuse conditions.

• Conduct psychosocial evaluations, screenings, and triage assessments. Will use brief assessments routinely (PHQ-9, GAD-7, C-SSRS, etc.).

• Develop/maintain a working knowledge of resources within the community for appropriate referrals; Refer complex, longer-term cases when appropriate.

• Provide crisis assessment and triage as needed.

• Work with patients and providers to identify manageable treatment goals and create collaborative care plan; monitor care plan compliance/progress.

• Consult and collaborate regularly with healthcare team to provide coordinated care, review care plan, participate in bi-weekly Interdisciplinary Team meetings.

• Travel to Cape Girardeau monthly to meet with patients, staff and community partners; travel to St. Louis at least quarterly to meet with staff

• Plan and provide behavioral health/psychoeducational groups as appropriate for patients and community.

General Duties

• Maintain awareness of federal, state, and county laws and regulations, local requirements and policy impacting funding and service delivery.

• Complete documentation of services in a timely and accurate manner.

• Maintain patient confidentiality, follow clinic protocols and adhere to all applicable ethical and legal standards of service delivery.

• Participate in staff meetings and other meetings as assigned.

• Exhibit excellent working relations with patients, visitors and staff.

• Effectively communicate NOVUS Health’s mission.

• Maintain HIPAA compliance.

• Other duties as assigned.

Essential Job Functions:

• Graduate of an accredited school with a master’s degree in social work or counseling.

• Licensed in Missouri as Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).

• 2-5 years of clinical experience.  

• Proficient computer skills (i.e., Electronic Medical Record; Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access; and Web-based applications).

• Access to reliable transportation.
